Outdoor, urban & street advertising
Shutter Media has produced street-level outdoor advertising across the UK and Ireland since 2010 — printed roller shutters, site hoardings, banners, building wraps and window graphics. Instead of renting poster space by the fortnight, you advertise on the building you already occupy, 24 hours a day, for years.
Out-of-home advertising you own
Traditional out-of-home advertising — billboards, bus shelters, street furniture — is rented, shared and priced per campaign. Urban advertising printed onto your own frontage is a one-off cost with a five-to-seven year working life, and it reaches people standing on the pavement outside your door rather than passing at 40mph.
For a typical high street shop that trades 60 hours a week, a printed shutter advertises for the other 108 — the cheapest cost per hour of exposure in outdoor advertising.
Street advertising formats we print and install
Printed roller shutters
The highest-impact street advertising a retailer owns. Full-colour wrap across the closed shutter, working every night, Sunday and bank holiday.
Site hoardings
Construction and development hoardings turned into large-format urban advertising for the length of the build programme.
Banners & building wraps
PVC banners, mesh and large-format wraps for campaigns, launches, events and stadium frontages.
Street furniture graphics
Bollards, planters, kiosks and shelters wrapped as street-level advertising for town centres, BIDs and landlords.
Window & frontage graphics
Daytime street-level messaging, offers and manifestation across glazing and shopfronts.
Where we work
Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland and the wider North East, plus nationwide rollouts across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Multi-site retail programmes are surveyed, printed in-house and fitted out of hours.

Outdoor advertising questions
- What is outdoor advertising?
- Outdoor advertising — also called out-of-home (OOH) advertising — is any brand message seen in public space: billboards, posters, street furniture, hoardings, banners, vehicle graphics and printed roller shutters. Shutter Media produces the printed formats that sit on your own building rather than on rented poster sites.
- How is street advertising different from a billboard?
- Billboard space is rented by the fortnight and shared with other brands. Street-level advertising on your own shutter, hoarding or frontage runs 24 hours a day for years at a one-off cost, and reaches people at the exact point they can walk in.
- What does urban advertising cost?
- A printed roller shutter or hoarding is priced by size, so a single shopfront usually costs less than one month of comparable billboard space and lasts five to seven years. Send a photo, the width and the number of slats for a same-day quote.
- Do you cover the whole of the UK and Ireland?
- Yes. We are based in Middlesbrough and install across Teesside and the North East, plus nationwide UK rollouts, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Do outdoor graphics need planning permission?
- Graphics printed onto an existing shutter, hoarding or window are usually treated as decoration rather than new advertising structures, but conservation areas and listed buildings have their own rules — always check with the local authority first.
