Shutter Wraps, Resprays and Anti-Graffiti Finishes

A shutter wrap covers the whole curtain edge to edge rather than adding a panel or a logo. This page covers wrapping, the respray alternative, and the anti-graffiti coatings that go over both.

Full wrap or printed panel?

A full wrap suits photographic artwork, murals and anything that needs to run across the whole frontage. A panel suits a logo, an opening-hours block or a promotion that will change, because it can be lifted and replaced on its own.

Both use the same media and laminate. The difference is coverage and cost — a wrap is priced by the square metre of curtain, so a wide shopfront costs proportionally more.

Shutter resprays

Where a shutter is flaking, rusty or repeatedly tagged, spraying is often the better answer. The curtain is cleaned back, treated and sprayed in a single colour to a factory-style finish, which also gives a sound surface if graphics go on afterwards.

Resprays are done in situ, out of hours, with the frontage masked and protected.

Anti-graffiti protection

Wrapped shutters get an anti-graffiti laminate as standard. Sprayed shutters can take a clear anti-graffiti coating applied over the top coat, so tags can be removed with a solvent wipe instead of repainting.

On problem streets this is usually what keeps the cost of a scheme down over the following years.

Common questions

What is a shutter wrap?
A shutter wrap is printed vinyl applied across the full face of a roller shutter curtain, edge to edge, so the whole frontage carries the artwork rather than a single applied panel.
Is it better to wrap or respray a roller shutter?
Wrap when you want artwork, photography or branding. Respray when the shutter is flaking, rusty or heavily tagged and you want a clean single colour — and respray first if graphics are going on a poor surface.
Can a wrapped shutter be protected from graffiti?
Yes. Exterior wraps carry an anti-graffiti laminate as standard, and sprayed shutters can take a clear spray-on anti-graffiti coating so tags wipe off rather than soak in.
